After many generations of nomadic existence, a group of families from the Yanadi tribe joined to create a permanent settlement on the edge of Ganapavaram, a small village in rural India.
The Yanadi were one of many tribes living in the Guntur district of India who were encouraged by a government land grant to abandon their migratory life style and transition to permanent homes and sustainable jobs.
In July of 2005, Franklin Gummadi and his wife Shirley incorporated PUSHPA as a 501(c)3 charitable organization to help these developing communities to push ahead.
