Since you have progressed this far on our site you are probably already aware that the name of the PUSHPA organization is an acronym for People Using Self Help to Push Ahead, which provides a concise statement of the PUSHPA mission.

 

There are, however, two other reasons that the Pushpa name was chosen for our organization. The Pushpa flower is a common sight in India and became a part of the PUSHPA logo at the top of this page.

 

Pushpa is also a common given name in India which has a special significance to Franklin Gummadi whose younger sister, Pushpa, died at a very young age.
